Jerusalem Artichokes for ever?

Ever thought of growing Jerusalem Artichokes? In 2014 I bought a bag of artichokes at Usk Farmers' Market with a view to eating them but decided to plant them; there were only 8 in the bag so it made a nice row in one half of my plot.
Well I had a decent crop, but as space is at a premium, I decided not to grow them this year; how wrong I was - the artichokes had decided for me!
As you can see from the photograph, there are considerably more this year, without even trying. I thought I had removed the vast majority of my crop, but soon discovered that even the smallest piece left in the ground will take root.
So if you really want to grow Jerusalem Artichokes, remember that you will have them for ever unless you meticulously clear the ground afterwards.
You have been warned!
