Risca Industrial History Museum, which can be found in the Colliers' Institute at the junction of Grove Road and St. Mary Street, is well worth a visit, containing a wealth of historical artefacts. Here's a link to their website:
Running costs have become crippling since CCBC no longer own the building.
Run entirely by volunteers it is open every Saturday morning, 10 until 12.30 throughout the year.
As a member there are Winter time Talks and Summertime Walks (Friday evenings), for a very reasonable £25 p.a.
If membership isn't your thing then have a look at the attached flyer, in which they are looking for people to become Friends of the Museum, by donating just £10 p.a.
